Sa Battalla, Sanluri and the memory of an epic battle

There is a moment and a precise date in the history of Sardinia that definitely created a new course of the events: the Sanluri Battle (30 June 1409).
The reenactment of this important battle is now coming again and from the 25th of June to the 3rd of July Sanluri is going to be the very cultural-hub in Sardinia.
Actually every two years the town of Sanluri, in the centre of Sardinia, reminds this tragic massacre which was the end of the indigenous Kingdom of Arborea.

Arborea was the only significant political power in Sardinia that resisted hard against the Catalan-Aragonese army.
But finally the Iberian armada broke the Sardinian resistance down thanks to its military superiority and thus the entire Island was incorporated into the Aragonese Crown for about three centuries. This was the end of Sardinian indipendence.
This reenactment is going to involve all the local industries and make visitors part of the unique traditional life of this area of Sardinia for a long week. Also the cultural curiosities will be satisfied with guided tours across the medieval Castle of Sanluri, churches, exhibitions and a series of seminars by the most important experts in historic and art-archaeological field.
